“Secrets Behind the Trees” tours

A huge thank you from our Friends of Weelsby Hall volunteers to everyone who has attended the “Secrets Behind the Trees” tours this year!

The feedback has been incredibly positive, and our volunteers have loved sharing the beauty and history of Weelsby Hall with so many enthusiastic visitors.

In early May, volunteers also trialled a new “Bird Safari” tour with members of the Grimsby RSPB group – and it was a great success! Using their eyes, ears, and an AI birdsong identification app, the group identified around 20 different bird species across the stunning grounds surrounding the hall.

Wrens, robins, chaffinches, great tits, chiffchaffs, wood pigeons, blackbirds, blackcaps, long-tailed tits, goldcrests, magpies, and goldfinches were all spotted, alongside exciting sightings of a buzzard, sparrowhawk, and woodpecker.

Thanks to ticket sales from the tours, an amazing £490 has been raised towards the refurbishment of Weelsby Hall, helping to protect and preserve this historic building for many years to come.

We hope to welcome even more visitors to future outdoor tours soon!
