Joe is a first-year student who followed his passion for all things horticulture by accessing the employability pathway early. While timetabled elsewhere, his heart was clearly outdoors – often gazing longingly at the grounds.
After a conversation with our Job Coach team, we created an internal role for Joe within the beautiful Weelsby Estate. Since then, Joe’s confidence and communication have flourished. He now works independently from a weekly task list, confidently changing into his PPE and gathering the equipment needed for each job.
Next year, we’re excited to build on this progress with an external work placement – and potentially a supported internship leading to paid employment.
