Learning by Doing at the Eco Centre!

Eight people we support recently took part in an Employment – Developing Transferable Skills Day at the Eco Centre in Skegness, accompanied by two members of our Employment Team.

Led by the fantastic Eco Centre instructor, the day was packed with practical challenges designed to develop confidence, communication, teamwork, resilience and problem-solving skills – all valuable skills for the workplace.

The group learned how to light and maintain a fire using flint and strikers, rather than matches, successfully keeping a Kelly Kettle burning to boil water. They also took on the challenge of den building, where their teamwork really came into its own. It was fantastic to see everyone supporting, encouraging and looking out for one another throughout the activities.

The day was filled with learning, laughter and plenty of achievement, finishing with a campfire and, of course, some well-earned marshmallow toasting!

A huge thank you to the Eco Centre for such fantastic teaching and for creating an environment where everyone could get involved, try new things and recognise what they are capable of.

A brilliant day of learning by doing, building confidence and developing skills for the workplace! 💪
