Vale View’s Rockingham Forest Getaway!

At the end of June, Hannah and Emma enjoyed a fantastic three-day break at Rockingham Forest, making the most of the sunshine and creating lots of wonderful memories together.

Day 1 began with a visit to Stamford, where Hannah and Emma enjoyed exploring the shops before stopping for lunch at Stamford Garden Centre. They then independently chose the food they wanted for the weekend, shopping together at Morrisons and helping to fill the trolley with all their favourite treats.

After arriving at Rockingham Forest, they unpacked and settled in before enjoying a lovely picnic tea on the balcony. With temperatures reaching 38°C, it was the perfect warm summer evening to relax outdoors.

Day 2 took them to Sacrewell Farm, where they loved meeting the animals, exploring the tractors, bird aviaries and animal enclosures. Emma also had great fun playing a game of giant outdoor chess with staff, with plenty of laughter along the way!

Lunch was enjoyed in the farmhouse café before returning to Rockingham Forest for a gentle woodland walk. To keep cool in the hot weather, the walk was kept short, followed by a well-earned ice cream from the forest café. The day ended with a delicious Italian meal prepared by staff and enjoyed together on the balcony.

Day 3 started with a wildlife bug walk before heading to The White Swan in Woodnewton for a delicious Sunday lunch. Back at Rockingham Forest, Hannah and Emma enjoyed another gentle woodland stroll before choosing a special treat from the Oak Lake Store. Hannah opted for ice cream and cake, while Emma chose an ice cream. They rounded off the afternoon with party food on the balcony, and Emma made the most of the jacuzzi every evening during their stay.

It was a wonderful few days filled with choice, independence, new experiences and plenty of smiles. Thank you to everyone who helped make this summer break so special!
