Around the World with Riverside – Destination: India!

Our latest Around the World adventure took us back to India after everyone enjoyed our first visit so much!

The experience began on Friday evening, when the people we support prepared a delicious chicken curry, leaving it to marinate overnight ready for the next day’s feast. On Saturday, they picked fresh blackberries from the Riverside garden to make a homemade blackberry syrup, which became the star ingredient in a refreshing Indian-inspired blackberry mocktail.

The fun didn’t stop in the kitchen! Before continuing with the cooking, everyone took a well-earned dance break, learning some energetic Bollywood dance moves. One of the people we support remembered the song ‘Jai Ho’ by The Pussycat Dolls, so the music was turned up and everyone joined in for another fantastic dance session filled with smiles and laughter.

Back in the kitchen, the group worked together to make homemade naan breads and a traditional Indian dessert, developing their cooking skills while exploring the flavours and culture of India.

When everything was ready, everyone sat down together to enjoy a delicious homemade meal. With Indian music playing in the background, they tucked into a tasty chicken tikka masala, served with freshly made naan bread, followed by a traditional Indian pudding and their homemade blackberry mocktails.

From cooking and dancing to learning about another culture, this was a wonderful experience that brought everyone together. It was a day full of teamwork, new skills, laughter and, of course, some amazing food!
